Teenagers and Cell Phones II. Texting Acronyms I’d Like To See.

texting-while-driving.jpg Texting while driving image by amhirschman

As a follow up to yesterday’s post, I figured it’s time parents had some of our own texting acronyms.  We don’t need many to make our points.  Just a few effective, succinct phrases like:

BISS!   YSHMTIOD?!    TIATLTMIGTSIMI.   YGTBKIMDWWHWASAAR.

(Because I said so!  You sent how many texts in one day?!  This is absolutely the last text message I’m going to send;  I mean it.  You’ve got to be kidding; in my day, we were happy with a stick and a rock.)

Do you have any others?

  1. What about: IYNHITMYGFL

If you're not home in 30 minutes you're grounded for life.

    A handy little phrase I think :-)

  4. I just stumbled here and had a good laugh--WCYJT is one that always comes to mind--Why can't you just talk? My older kids tell me texting is good for relaying information when you don't really want to talk to someone..hmmm...they text me a lot :)

  5. That is so sad but true (that cartoon) I'm bad for doing it too but teenagers who don't even know how to drive yet (and I have no excuse, it's just as easy to get distracted), every parent needs to read this!!

  6. I don't have kids and I don't text, so I guess I'm out of this loop.

But I would love to send a cryptic message to my neighbor who woke my up at 6:30 yelling at her kids:

    STHU

    (shut the heck up)

I cleaned it up for your blog.

  8. Hi Sallymandy,

did you see that tmobile lets you control ALL activity on your childs line. There is no end to what you can do. It is brilliant. you are right about making rules, we had very few but they were nonnegotiable. With 5 kids all having mobiles we never really had any problems. It helps to be a good role model too. I am always amazed at how many adults i see using cell phones inappropriatly.

  9. Learning to drive right now, I just cannot comprehend anymore how you can be on the phone, even less text, when you drive. This is totally insane and should be forbidden (I think it is already in an handful of states?). I know it is in France and you can get a ticket.

I love the drawing, totally to the point!! :)

  11. Talking on a hand held phone while driving is illegal in the State of CA. Not that I've noticed it stopping anyone.

I love Lucy's TMFA. How about ITAB? (I'll think about it). That always buys a little time.
