A brand new award created by me. Please find your name on the list.

valuedfolloweraward

This week finds me so busy that I am way behind in my blog reading.  Yes, I have more “work” work than I want, and I’m going to Idaho again this week on a business trip.  Still, it’s no one’s fault but my own that I’m behind.  I take on more things than I can reasonably accomplish.  Does anyone else have this problem?

To thank readers who visit here regularly, I made the award and graphic above.  You can post this on your blog, and pass it on to others if you’d like.

Here’s some text to go with it.

“This award is given especially to these readers.  Your visits and comments make me happy to be a blogger.  I learn from you, your comments, and your blogs more than I can say.

In the words of Voltaire, ‘Appreciation is a wonderful thing:  it makes what is excellent in others belong to us as well.’”

Here are my award recipients:

There are Worse Things to Be than Friendly, Sexy, and Creative

Kat set the bar high by showing justification for the Sexy Blogger Award.  She posted photos of all manner of tasteful-yet-sexy images from around her house.  When she passed this on to me, I got a case of “Justify Why I’m Sexy Block”—a close cousin to Writer’s Block, about which I’ve recently posted.  After all, I don’t want to sound UNGRATEFUL, but for what other award does one have to justify getting it?!

Being a people-pleasing, compliant sort, I did my best.  I turned again to the Internet Fairy and asked her “What is sexy?”  This is what she told me.

Typography is sexy.

Procurement Reform is Sexy. Honest.

Silence is sexy.

Good Credit is Sexy.

Voting is Sexy, Dude.

Radiant Flooring Is Sexy.

Severus Snape is Sexy.

Teeth Chiseling is Sexy.

………And here’s my favorite, which really does suit me, since I love nature and am somewhat geeky………

Nature is sexy. And geeks are part of nature,

therefore geeks are sexy.

Gotta Love That!  The Internet Fairy comes through once again, and now I’ve earned my award.

Now, to honor the Kreativ Blogger Award from Malisa, I’m supposed to list

seven things sallymandy loves.  here they are:

hazelnut coffee

lilacs

my european-style cruiser bicycle

naps

applying my brain to something challenging (yet interesting.  not talking checkbook balancing)

moving water

broad shoulders—my hubby’s

Thank you to the creative, sexy, friendly and lovely friends who passed these on to me.  I love and appreciate you—and your blogs!

From Kat (very funny, Gato)              From Ms Lucy

I’d like to pass on the One Lovely Blog Award to Relyn at Come Sit By My Fire.  Kreativ Blogger goes to Stephanie at Circle of Clothes.  Sexy Blogger must, of course, go to Drollgirl—if you don’t already have it.  And the Friendly Blogger Award could go to so many, but I’d like to hand it over to Sher at Fashion Over Forty.

Happy Thursday….♥♥♥

Renee Award

Lovely and talented Catherine at A Thousand Clapping Hands has honored me with the Renee Award.  This award was recently created to honor Renee of Circling my Head.

renee_award

"It is one of the most meaningful awards in the blogworld because it honors someone who is incredibly inspirational in her intelligent and witty writing. And by doing so this award celebrates women's smart, strong, and inspirational spirit. These women are like Renee; the acorn, a small package becoming a tall and sturdy oak giving more acorns, becoming tall and sturdy oaks, giving acorns…”

I’m honored to receive this award because of Renee’s honest writing.  Renee has Stage 4 inflammatory breast cancer, and writes from that point of view.  I’d also like to honor two friends who have recently learned they, too, have cancer.  One is W., about whom I wrote last week.  The other is Kayleigh of Fashionably Later

Dear friends, I’m thinking of you, I love you, I want the very best for you.

I’d like to pass the Renee Award on to Moannie at The View From This End.  Moannie doesn’t have cancer, that I know of.  I sincerely value words of experience and wisdom from women who are farther downstream in life than I am.  Moannie does that for me, so she’s a tall and sturdy oak tree giving acorns—the spirit of the Renee Award as I understand it.

“This Blog Has a Heart” Award

Lovely Lola at Aglio, Olio and Peperoncino has nominated The Blue Kimono for the “This Blog Has a Heart” Award.

thankyoulola

Thank you so much.  And I invite everyone to go visit Lola’s blog, where you can find yummy authentic recipes direct from Rome, Lola’s entertaining writing, and cool photographs of life in Italy.  It’s a wonderful place to visit.

I’d like to pass this award on to Protege at Life, Work, and Pleasure, and Seeker at Searching the Inner Me.   You both express lots of “heart,” and I appreciate you!  Please post this tag if you’d like, and pass on the award if you feel like it.

An Award Pour Moi

blog_exceedingly_diverting

Ingrid at Fashion is My Muse nominated me for the Excessively Diverting Blog Award today.  (Ingrid also has a lovely blog on books called Blog of a Bookworm.) It’s always a pleasure to be recognized for one’s efforts, within Blogland and out.   Thank you, Ingrid!

I’m rather uncomfortable choosing e-friends to nominate in the interest of not leaving others out. There is one person, however, who’s been so helpful since I started blogging that I’ll nominate just her:  Hazel at The Clever Pup.

The aim of the award is to acknowledge writing excellence in the spirit of Jane Austen's genius in amusing and delighting readers with her irony, humour, wit and talent for keen observation. Recipients will uphold the highest standards in the art of sparkling banter, witty repartee and gentle reprove.

Hazel, please claim your award. You may post the badge, list the name of the person who nominated you and link to their blog. Then you many nominate others that you feel meet or exceed the standards set forth. But if you are award-weary or have already won this award before, please just enjoy the honour!!!
