Lady of Verona silk-lined vintage faux pearl choker by Sally Gee, Avery Mary Design, $22.50 USD.
This month, I’m using jewelry bribery to motivate myself to change some eating habits. The task is not to lose weight, but to eat healthy. The payoff can’t cost too much; so here are some things I love from Etsy, all except one under $25 USD.
The artists and vintage sellers on Etsy have so much to choose from in the way of unusual alternatives to mass-produced costume jewelry from the stores.
How about you? Does self-bribery motivate you? What’s the best reward?

I love necklaces as I don't wear rings or earrings. I've just treated myself to a new necklace today with several stones of varying colours.
I love your selection especially the bohemian necklace, that looks like something I would choose to buy.
Ah, love them all! My favorites are though the "Bohemian Chic Earrings". They are so much me.;))
That tortoiseshell cuff is MINE! Love it! Thanks for doing the shopping for me ;)
I love the beaded collar necklace in the first picture. Good luck with eating more healthy. I've been trying to and some days it is easy and others it is so very hard!
The choker and bracelet might just work as bribery. Beautiful pieces and holy heck, great prices.
I just love the way you think...xv
I definitely bribe myself... but the reward is usually food. For example, "I can sneak one spoonful of cookie dough for every half-hour I work on this dreaded document." Often when I know a rough time is coming, I mix up a 1/4 recipe, substituting a tablespoon or so of milk for the egg, then I "hide" it in the back of the fridge. When times are really tough, I switch over to brownie batter, giving it the same treatment. In college, the bribery was often one gummy worm per paragraph or one sweettart per sentence.
It's probably not the healthiest relationship I could have with food, but at least I'm very conscious of it!
Ah, jewelry! Lovely pieces. Good luck on your endeavors, with or without self bribe.
That first necklace is a very good bribe for me. I am having to do some studying for a big exam in August and I bribe myself every single day. Without bribery I would never get the studying done.
I hope you reach your goal and get the jewelry!
i love Etsy, thanks for sharing your finds ☺
No, I don't try to bribe myself because I always cheat. I tell myself I can have the prize anyway because... well...just because. But oh, that bakelite bracelet looks tasty.

There are so many treasures here, I especially want (oops, like) The Bohemian Necklace and the tortoise shell cuff. I'm guilty of the 'pre-bribe: buying it now, b/c by the time I have met the goal, the item may be gone. Of course then I need another reward...
Used to bribe myself by hanging a new bikini next to the fridge.
The dangly earrings for me please.
Great prices...
Hey- whatever works;) I love the bracelets most. Isn't it great to be able to find such creativity at great prices? I love Etsy shops. Thanks:)
I want all of it, now! Sorry, ever the hedoniste! I have enjoyed getting caught up with all your refashioning stitchery witchery - How clever you are, Sallymandy, and I love your creative sewing nook.
You are an inspirational person with your (you make it look so) easy creativity! Thank you x
Bribery definitely works. In my case the reward is sleep, the more I work out, or stay active, the better I sleep generally. Plus peer pressure. Every single woman I know (I think every woman in the US, probably) is in the process of losing weight and getting in shape. I don't want to be the lone woman getting wider and softer in comparison.
Wow, I like your bribe choices, especially that tortoise cuff. Really cute. I do bribe myself, I exercise longer to get to have a treat (though that shouldn't make sense I try it) and I get myself a treat on special occasions if I've worked really hard. I think I bribe myself too much actually! But good for you for having a goal and rewarding yourself!
It's all beautiful stuff but I wonder how these artists make any money selling these works for so little. The materials alone must cost what they are charging.
Oh, I can't BELIEVE I missed out on the cuff. It is just divine. Maybe I will have the bakelite bangle instead ...
The sparrow necklace is just like the Twitter logo.

Yes, I like to "bribe" myself, too.
;^)

The Vintage Bobbi's are my absolute fav.
