A Few Things I Won’t be Wearing in Montana This Fall

Alexander McQueen  Fall 2009

jeremy-scott-2009-fall-rtw-collection-5

Jeremy Scott  Fall 2009

watanabe1

Junya Watanabe  Fall 2009

gilesdeacon Giles Deacon  Fall 2009

(I couldn’t resist:  how funny would it be to wear one of these to scrape the snow off my Subaru?  That birdcage thing might crack the windshield.)

I don't know, I think I could see you in the last outfit!

Hehe, this was so funny, I am sitting here in the lab bringing attention to myself as I am laughing out loud!;))
Yes, birdcage indeed; the top and the last picture looks like some sort of "private prisons". And the 3d one looks like the bride of Nosferatu.;)
I think you are right, for every day use these are not just impractical, but quiet ugly and scary as well.;)
Great post!;)

The model's face/makeup on the Junya Watanabe one (the one Protege called the "Bride Of Nosferatu") made her look unreal--as if it were an Edward Gorey drawing.

Imagine shopping for frozen TV dinners in the Giles Deacon thing. Imagine the faces on the polyester-clad fauna around you.

Lovely to have heard from you! I look forward to some of your recommended reads....I love the post of 80 year old Daphne Selfe, some women age so beautifully!

Hmmm, I'm thinking that last one might work, it looks like it might be warm :)

I'm amazed that they even can walk without toppling over. I won't be wearing any of this in North Carolina either...lol.

I already get odd looks from my children. Imagine a bird cage or wearing a sleeping bag, which is what #3 reminds me of.

Really admire you people who can just laugh at this (sincerely). I'm annoyed: who do they think women ARE?
But I'm kind of owly tonight.

There are days when that full length down coat thing would be pretty warm. When I look at it, though, I keep thinking of Cathy in Wuthering Heights.

Oh my goodness-I would be completley humiliated if I was cought red-handed wearing something like that in Missoula. Or even in NYC. But it is a great post, thank you for sharing those...loveley pictures with us. I appreciate you letting me post a post of my own on your blog as well. I love the blue kimono, it's wonderful. Have a charming weekend, Sallymandy.
xoxo

The bottom one cracks me up.

I can finally post here. Hooray! It was my outdated Outlook Express.

I read you every time you post and your daughter is an extremely clear and concise writer.

Thanks for the comments everyone! It was fun to visualize Protege laughing out loud in her science lab. I know I laughed at that last photo when I saw it online. And I think that model looks a little peeved to be wearing that thing.
