I found this artist on Etsy several months ago and then lost track of the site.  After a lot of searching I found it again.  I hope you like these as much as I do.  Matte Stephens paints original works with paper on gouache, and also makes high quality prints of these paintings for sale here.  All images copyright Matte Stephens.  Please do not reproduce without permission of the artist.

very fun and slightly off-balanced art. In other words, my kinda thing.

Ooooo. These are so cool. They have a real contemporary twist on a nostalgic look. If that make any sense. That's why I'm not an art critic.

Artwork reminds me of a show on Cartoon network called "Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends"

WoW! Now there's a talent if every I saw one. I love his/her use of line and colour, and the humour and lightness of touch is superb! Thanks for sharing this lovely art, Sallymandy.

I have seen this artist's work around somewhere online as well...so fun, distinctive(in a retro illustration way) and also inspiring to me!
I see we both have the same good taste, sallymandy.

I've been following him on etsy and throughout the blogosphere for awhile now. I have been trying to decide which piece to by for my daughters room.

Droll: Glad you like it, you artist/art critic, you.

Doreen: You're welcome!

Seeker: glad you like it!

Woman in W: Right. Off balance is good, IMO. :)

Pyzahn: It does make sense, perfectly!

Sher: Yes, I agree with you.

Ms Lucy: Thank you, kind friend. Isn't she great? She has attitude. Yet, strangely, no ears. Artistic license, I think.

Sachin: thank you for visiting, and for the nice compliment!

Lenore: Yes, charming is a great word for these. xo

Jane: There are so many of these artists on Etsy, too.

Suecae: Thank you for visiting and following. I'm glad you liked it. Yes, I did find your blog interesting and I'll come back too!

Stephanie: You're welcome; glad you like them.

Tessa: Well, coming from you, that comment means a great deal. Takes one to know one? I'm glad you approve of my taste! xo

Ms Lucy: thanks, you kind thing. xo

Gal: Why am I not surprised! Because you also have a beautiful talent for whimsy, fun, and distinctiveness. Like I said to Tessa, I'm glad you approve.

Hip: Have you? I like that. (I'd have a hard time picking one piece.)

Lilith: Right, impressive, huh? Do you work in gouache?

Cynthia: you're welcome, dear.

I love these...they have a 50's/60's pop art flavor. I shouldn't have looked at this because now I want to order one...the cat with the bird cages is especially cute.
